Four Features We Anticipate Seeing on the Iphone 14 This Year

The leaks for the iPhone 14 are coming thick and fast.

The iPhone 14 may be the smallest upgrade we’ve seen Apple introduce in a long time, but the iPhone 14 Pro may be the biggest, as leaks indicate that the Pro models will get a massive makeover.

We’ve heard rumours of four new iPhone 14 models in total, with the Pro and Pro Max models rumoured to get new features such as an Always-On Display, a higher-resolution rear camera, a redesigned front camera cut-out, and more. Nothing is official, so take it with a grain of salt, but there has been a lot of confirmation in what leakers expect.

Keep reading as four features we anticipate seeing on the iphone 14.

The iPhone 14 Max will be Released

It’s been a while since we heard that iPhone mini sales fell short of Apple’s expectations. According to 9to5Mac sources, there will be no more of these phones in the 14 series.

The new iPhone 14 (codenamed D27 and D28) will be available in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes, according to our sources, while the Pro models (codenamed D73 and D74) may be slightly taller to accommodate the new hole-punch + pill design.

If you want a smaller phone, you can get the new iPhone SE 3 with its “iconic design,” the iPhone 13 mini, or the iPhone 12 mini.

Regular and pro Models have Different Designs

The hole-punch + pill design will be new on the iPhone 14 Pro. This will be the first time Apple departs from the iPhone X design in favour of a new approach. However, this new design will be limited to the Pro models, as the regular versions are expected to retain the same notch as the iPhone 13, which is 30% smaller than the one found on the iPhone 12.

Analyst Ross Young confirms this report, stating that all models will have the same design in 2023. Until then, if you want the most recent design, you’ll have to settle for the Pro models.

A15 Bionic for iPhone 14, A16 Bionic to iPhone 14 Pro

According to 9to5Mac independent sources and Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple may deviate from tradition this year by releasing some iPhone 14 models with the same A15 chip as the iPhone 13.

The A15 chip would power the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and 6.7-inch 14 Max, with RAM increasing to 6 GB from 4 GB. The new A16 SoC would be reserved for the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models, which are more expensive.

It’s unclear whether Apple will rebrand the A15 chip for the regular 14 phones, such as A15X, or use the more powerful version found on the iPhone 13 Pro.

A 48MP Wide sensor will be another important feature of the iPhone 14 Pro. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman was the most recent to report on this new feature, which was first suggested by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

While a 48MP sensor could unlock new features, Apple is more likely to stick with 12MP cameras, as you can read more about here. The standard iPhone 14 models will retain a 12MP sensor in all lenses.

In June, Kuo predicted that Phone 14 would be Apple’s biggest front-facing smartphone camera upgrade in years. According to the analyst, the new camera will have autofocus, which should result in significantly better photo and video quality than the current fixed-focus camera. He also anticipates a larger f/1.9 aperture.
